Retelling of Nightmare Man Through Makaton

Today, Year 3 used Makaton to retell the opening to ‘The Nightmare Man’. We practiced as a group and then played some Makaton Bingo to help us remember the actions.

Year 3- Role Play Explaining How Bee’s Help Plants.

Today Year 3 were learning about how bee’s help plants grow and reproduce. We had a whole class discussion and summarised the information. We then had 6 children acting out their interpretation of the process.

Year 3 Experience with Junior Ministers.

Today Year 3 took part in a workshop run my junior ministers about sacred places. We talked about how sacred could have slightly different meanings for different people. 

We then we’re able to draw a map of an island that has sacred places on there. We drew a church, a school, our homes and a hospital. All of these places are important to most. As a final activity the children were able to circle their sacred place and discuss why.

Year 3- Designing a new Bandanna for Pudsey Bear, Inspired by being Equal.

Today was children in need. Year three discussed what Children in Need stands for and the impact we can have. We talked about the bandanna Pudsey wears and spoke about how anti-bullying can link to the Children in Need goals. Therefore, we designed a new bandanna for Pudsey to wear.

Year 3: Anti-Bullying Presentation

Today Year 3 presented their understanding of National Anti-Bullying week. This years Theme is that ‘We are all Equal’. We were able to create a poster of all of Year 3’s hands and discuss what we think makes us different but still equal. As a final celebration of being equal we sang a song called ‘We’re all in this together’ to represent that we are all here for one another.

Year 3- Retelling Jumble Joan Opening through Makaton.

Today Year 3 completed the makaton for our diary about Jumble Joan about meerkats. We talked about what the three main characters got up to and how the day did not go according to plan. We recapped the report, spoke about the main parts and then added our actions.

Year 3- Gryffindor Table Explaining their Times Table Game.

Today Gryffindor Table explained their game for practicing our times tables. This has helped us to develop our understanding of how we can learn in a fun way. They were able to explain the rules to Miss Woodall who then started to play the game.

Year 3- Ravenclaw Table Explaining their Times Table Game.

Today Ravenclaw table designed a game to help everyone learn their 3 and 4 times table in a more creative way. They spoke about the rules and what you need to do. The aim of the game is to jump around the board and correctly answer times table questions.

Year 3- Retelling the First Three Paragraphs of Our Non-Chronological Report

Year 3 Harvest Festival Workshop at St Johns Methodist Church.

Today Year 3 were able to visit St Johns Methodist Church and take part in the activities they provided. We got to plant seeds, eat bread, weave wool, make a bookmark and pray to God for our gratitude.

Year 3- Meerkat Mail Retelling with Makaton

Today Year 3 was able to retell the story of Sunny the meerkat using Makaton. As part of our talk for writing the children were able to all perform together and work in groups to help them embed the structure. Following from this the children will be able to retell the story confidently.
